Hi friends,

I’ve been thinking about aging lately…not all the time, but in small moments. Like when my knees crack during squats, or when I’m watching Tiktok clips on my fyp of 20-somethings at Coachella thinking… aren’t they uncomfortable in that heat and dust? lol.

But I don’t dread aging. I take care of my skin, but it’s not this deep, nagging anxiety like it’s often portrayed in media. And the more I talk to women in their late 30s, 40s, even 50s, the more I see…that relaxed view of aging is actually pretty common. If anything, it’s the 20-somethings who worry most about aging because they haven’t done it yet!? Because once you get here…and start seeing the signs of aging, you realize there was never that much to fear in the first place.

That disconnect between how aging is portrayed in media, marketed and how it actually feels is exactly what we get into in my conversation with the hosts of the Breaking Beauty Podcast.

I really enjoyed this convo on the pod and hope you do too!

Permission to age…or not…

Mood Board: This Week Visually

#TWDT — what made me do a double take.

  • Justin Bieber's Coachella Set Was Not What You Think — Justin Bieber headlined Coachella Saturday and the internet declared his stripped back performance as proof of sexism — men do the minimum, women have to earn it. I'd push back on that. Bieber negotiated his $10 million deal himself, no manager, no commission. And the "low effort" read misses the point entirely. Have you seen how this man dresses? Crocs. Sweats. Zero apology. This is someone who spent fifteen years breaking down publicly — the health crises, the scrutiny— and has finally arrived at a genuine IDGAF “take me as I am” moment that I found nostalgic, emotional and real. • Erewhon Is Quietly Diluting the Thing That Made It Special — Erewhon x Revolve at Coachella. Custom juice, limited-edition totes, festival activation. Smart? Sure. But I'm watching Erewhon say yes to everything and it's giving me the ick — in the same way Sephora Kids gives me the ick. This brand started as a tiny health foods store in Venice with a genuine point of view. That specificity was the whole product. But their recent Ject medspa collab felt like a money grab. And this festival appearance so shortly after gives me serious pause. Gen Z will show up for the juices and the tote. But Millennials and Gen X have the actual purchasing power — and we notice when a brand we loved starts feeling like it's selling out.

  • Euphoria Season 3 Is About to Show Us the Influencer World Euphoria returned yesterday at Coachella after four years and it's doing something no mainstream show has really attempted: a dramatized, unflinching look at influencer culture. Cassie is on OnlyFans. Maddy is managing influencers in Hollywood. Levinson isn't treating this as a backdrop — it's the texture of who these characters became when the cameras of high school turned into the cameras of the internet. I've been waiting for prestige TV to actually go there. I’ll be curious to see where they take these narratives…  Read more on Deadline…

  • Going to Coachella Weekend 2? Read This First Coachella scams hit new highs. Reports flooded Reddit and TikTok last week of Airbnb hosts cancelling confirmed reservations days out then relisting the same properties for 10–20x the price. Some ticket resellers took it further: selling wristbands, reporting them stolen to void the sale, then collecting replacements at will call leaving unsuspecting buyers fighting to figure out what happened at the entry gates. Consumers are squeezed everywhere right now, and when that happens, the cracks show up in places like this and things get predatory. Just something to keep in mind if you’re going to Weekend 2.

  • Summer Is Coming And Mocktails Are On My Mind The temps are hitting the 70s and I can almost taste summer — which means mocktail season is officially open in our house. I made the Lyre's Blood Orange Spritz for our dinner party guests this weekend and it was the moment of the night. One guest smiled as I handed her a chilled glass and said "this is the best part of my day." That moment of joy as we clinked glasses with all the children running around the backyard is my favorite double take from the weekend. Recipe is linked here —>  Lyers.com…
